Updates on our sweet Michael

on January 1, 2014

ImageOk, we got Michael in for a CT Scan yesterday and they sent us home without much information. The radiology tech said that if the neuroradiologist said we could go home, that means there is no “emergency” or major concern. I got a call from his pediatrician while we were at dinner last night and she said it does appear that the shunt is working however, there is a buildup in cerebrospinal fluid in one localized area. She said this is not uncommon when having a shunt placed but definitely something the neurosurgeon should take a look at sooner rather than later. We have an appointment this coming Tuesday.

Michael had a good night last night at his Nona and B-bop’s while Mike and I went to dinner. He slept well last night (even though he did still get me up around 4:30am, as he does pretty much every night) and seems ok so far this morning. As we speak, he is relaxing and listening to Alice in Wonderland on CD.

I can’t believe it’s 2014 already. In just a few months, we’ll hit he 2-year anniversary of Michael’s diagnosis. 2012 was the worst year of my life so far but 2013 was a little better. Michael turned a corner last January and had a fairly good 2013 compared to 2012. I hope 2014 is even better – all I wish for his comfort and happiness. To all of Michael’s  MLD brothers and sisters out there, that is why I wish for you in 2014 as well – comfort and happiness.

The picture in this post is one that I took about 2 weeks ago. Isn’t he just beautiful? Love to you all.

  3. Michael is here for a reason, for however painfully short or luxuriously long it may be, and the love you all have created is beyond measure and will never die…it is so inspiring. Like ripples in a pond the stone has been cast …..HE and you and your husband ARE touching lives and it only takes one who says “I CAN” and then DOES…God will be fruitful and multiply his blessings in this. I will pray for your strength, your courage, for stability in the hard, hard crevices of this pain and LET GOD do what He alone can do. It may not be on our time or our watch even– but HE is always making “ALL THINGS FOR GOOD”.

Trust in Him, for we do not know HIS-story, the timeline is always much more interesting then we can even imagine, but HE IS in control.
You all are braver then you even know. Together this will be a beautiful blessing to the world.
Thank you for your sharing, for in it, change will start to occur… and that is why Michael came. Many will be benefitted by Michael’s sacrifice and suffering–as a parent I cannot even comprehend the suffering you are experiencing but know we are with you….you are never alone.
I will pray for you and your family. May GOD BLESS MICHAEL and do amazing things in this love story. Touched and in awe of you, :)BB
