Michael Warechowski IV

Updates on our sweet Michael

Still playing detective…

on October 2, 2012

Well last week was great! We finally made some headway with Michael’s new medication and saw a vast improvement in his comfort. But yesterday and last night weren’t so good. We tried replacing his Adivan with Klonopin (these are all meds to simply help keep him comfortable) and that was not a good idea. This is the second time we have tried Klonopin with Michael and had little success. Many moms and dads swear by Klonopin for their children but we all also know that everyone reacts differently and finding the right medications, dosages and combinations is real detective work. Needless to say, we are back on Adivan. Bye bye Klonopin.

Michael did not sleep a wink last night. He was having one PAID episode after another; it was like we were back at square one. So no one in the Warechowski household got any sleep last night. And guess what Michael has been doing since 10:30am this morning? Yep, you guessed it – sleeping. We’ll see how tonight goes.

On a side note – I had a little scare yesterday. I broke out in a weird rash on one side of my body that looks like poison ivy (but there’s no way it could be poison ivy). Our first thought —–> Stress —–> Shingles. I went to the dermatologist and luckily, it’s not shingles – just a rash that hopefully will be cleared up soon.

Klonopin never worked for Oliver either, and even though I kept telling his Dr that I didn’t think it was working, he kept upping the dosage instead of changing the med. Finally we got him on diazepam and Wow, what a difference. It’s working so much better for him. I hope Michael gets some relief from the PAID episodes soon. 😦
