Updates on our sweet Michael

Transplant update

on April 18, 2012

After much thought and discussion, stories from other MLD families, advice and opinions, we have decided that transplant is not the best thing for Michael. By the way, thank you so much to everyone who shared your stories with us. It was monumental in helping us make the right decision.

That means we get to keep sweet Michael at home where’s he’s happy and safe so we can share him with everyone else who loves him and make his time as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. We are still going to go up to University of Minnesota to meet Dr. Orchard and his team and have Michael go through a mild assessment so we can learn more about MLD and where Michael is at this point. If you know Mike and I, you know we are “planner people” (thank you Elizabeth Brooks for that title) so we want to know what to expect. We are also going to look into some all natural, homeopathic treatments for Michael. They won’t cure him but they may help him feel better.
There are so many things we want to do with Michael while we can. He loves the water but has never seen the ocean…
He loves animals so we want to take him to the zoo. He loves being outside so we want to go to the mountains, take him hiking. Show him where Mike proposed to me.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on our adventures, good and bad.
Loves and hugs from the Warechowskis,
Katie, Mike and Michael
